Oklahoma Insurance Department Sets Hearing on Whether the State’s Homeowners Insurance Market Is Noncompetitive

OK| The Special Notice from the Oklahoma Insurance Department addressed to all property and casualty insurers, announces a public hearing under 36 O.S. §§ 307 and 984 and OAC 365:1-7-1(a) to determine whether Oklahoma’s homeowners insurance market is noncompetitive. The hearing—which is expressly NOT for the purpose of deciding whether any particular homeowners rates are excessive nor for addressing claims issues—will be held before an independent hearing examiner on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 9 A.M. at the Oklahoma State Capitol (Multipurpose Room 100, 2300 N. Lincoln Blvd., Oklahoma City). The Commissioner, acting alongside the Oklahoma Attorney General under 74 O.S. § 18b(22), invites all interested parties with a direct, immediate, and substantial interest—including all P&C insurers writing homeowners business in the state—to participate, offer evidence and argument, and enter an appearance by emailing OIDlegal@oid.ok.gov..
