NM| The New Mexico Insurance Department Bulletin 2026-05 informs all residential property/casualty insurers with customers in the Texico Fire Protection Service Area that ISO has conducted a Public Protection Classification (PPC) survey and plans to implement a PPC change effective August 1, 2026, which may unfavorably affect premiums or renewal decisions. As required by Insurance Code §59A-18-33 and general OSI Bulletin 2024-022 (with the usual requirement to notify the PPC rating/advisory organization waived here), insurers must, within ninety days of the Bulletins date, send written notice to affected policyholders using prescribed or similar language explaining PPC scoring, the potential impact on property insurance premiums and renewals, and the fact that OSI directed the insurer to provide this notice. The Bulletin also instructs policyholders to contact local government officials (such as the fire chief or county commissioner) if they wish to pursue a community improvement plan that the rating/advisory organization could evaluate and potentially use to postpone publication of a downgraded PPC score.
