Puerto Rico Insurers Alerted: Commissioner of Insurance Announces 2026 Regulatory Audit Program and New Reporting Form

PR| Circular Letter No. 2026-2064 announces that the Puerto Rico Office of the Commissioner of Insurance is launching a Regulatory Audit Program during 2026 for all insurers authorized to operate in Puerto Rico, under the authority of Articles 2.030 and 2.110 of the Insurance Code, to examine their financial condition, operations, and compliance. It explains that selected insurers will receive individual advance notice detailing the scope of the audit and required documentation, and urges all insurers to budget sufficient internal and external resources (staff liaisons, accounting systems, electronic records access, and funds to reimburse the Office for reasonable examination expenses). The Letter also adopts Form EX-2026-2062, requiring insurers to update information mandated by Article 7 of Rule XIV-A and submit it to the Examinations Division by April 30, 2026, via the specified email address.
