Delaware DOI Warns: Phishing Emails Impersonating NIPR Target Insurance Licensees

Share:

DE| The Delaware Department of Insurance’s Producers and Adjusters Bulletin No. 41, warns all Delaware‑licensed insurance professionals about a targeted phishing campaign involving fraudulent emails that pretend to be past‑due invoices from the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR), sometimes using convincing‑looking domains such as @nipr.com, @naic.org, or @stripe.com, to induce recipients to click malicious links or make unauthorized payments.

The Bulletin instructs licensees to treat as suspicious any unexpected invoice emails, especially those with urgent payment demands, non‑NIPR hyperlinks, invoice‑type attachments, or minor sender address irregularities, and advises them not to click links or open attachments, to verify invoices directly with NIPR at niprbillingdept@nipr.com, to delete fraudulent messages, report them to IT/security, and ensure staff are trained to recognize such phishing attempts. It notes that questions should be directed to Licensing@delaware.gov.
