Maryland Insurance Administration Launches Health Insurance Advisory Board — Applications Open Through August 1, 2026

MD| Maryland Insurance Administration Bulletin 26-18 (dated July 9, 2026) announces that the MIA is soliciting applications from consumer, provider, and stakeholder representatives to serve on a newly established Health Insurance Advisory Board, which was created following a 2025 public meeting and enabling legislation (Senate Bill 776 and House Bill 995) that drew stakeholder support; the board will consist of no more than 12 members chosen to reflect Maryland’s demographic diversity, meet virtually on a quarterly basis, and provide public recommendations to the MIA on improving public engagement, payer transparency, and health insurance matters affecting Maryland residents (health carriers may attend as guests but cannot serve as formal members), with applications submitted via a linked Google Form due no later than August 1, 2026, the first board meeting set for October 7, 2026.
