At Applied Net 2025, AI emerged as the defining force of the Intelligent Insurance Era. This post explores how vertical, insurance-specific AI is reshaping operations—enhancing human expertise, enabling smarter workflows, and setting the foundation for an empowered, data-driven future in insurance.

Attending my first Applied Net conference was an immersive experience. What once felt like distant, long-term goals for a remote research team became tangible realities on the main stage and in the exhibition hall. The clear, overarching message wasn’t simply digital transformationit was the celebration of the “Intelligent Insurance Era.” 

A live poll led by ReSource Pro’s Mark Breading revealed a striking consensus: artificial intelligence was identified as the single greatest factor set to shape P&C insurance over the next decade. It outranked geopolitics, demographics, financial pressures, and connected technologies. 

AI is no longer a future concept; it’s a present operational necessity. Applied Net 2025 showcased how AI is already reshaping the industry, bridging strategy and execution. 

From Generic AI to Insurance-Intelligent AI 

As AI solutions have matured, the industry has learned that generic, horizontal AI rarely fits for insurance’s complex, regulated workflows. What’s driving progress today is vertical AI, which is technology designed with insurance-specific data, processes, and documentation in mind. 

At Applied Net, this distinction was clear. The focus wasn’t just on technology for technology’s sake. It was about identifying where automation can complement, not replace, human expertise. In an environment built on trust, compliance, and precision, the most powerful AI systems are those that integrate seamlessly with existing processes, handling routine administrative tasks so professionals can focus on client relationships and complex decision-making. 

Empowering People in the Intelligent Insurance Era 

The greatest opportunity of AI isn’t process efficiency, it’s human empowerment. 

Across sessions, a consistent theme emerged: AI should enhance the work of agents, brokers, and underwriters, not diminish it. By removing administrative friction, AI allows professionals to spend more time where it matters most—serving clients, solving complex problems, and building the next generation of expertise. 

This human-centric model is also key to attracting and retaining young professionals who expect modern, data-driven, digitally enabled workplaces. 

A Glimpse of the Future, Built Today 

My time at Applied Net 2025 provided an eye-opening view of an industry at the edge of transformation. It reinforced our mission at ReSource Pro: to help clients bridge the gap between complex data, processes, and systems to deliver exceptional insurance services.
