Washington OIC Announces New Law Standardizing Auto Insurance Appraisal Clauses

WA| The Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner announced that the Legislature has passed Engrossed Senate Bill 5721, establishing standard language for automobile insurance appraisal clauses. Under the new law, the Insurance Commissioner is required to register competent and disinterested umpires who may be appointed to assist appraisers when they cannot mutually agree on an umpire to resolve a loss dispute.
