TX| The Texas Commissioner of Insurance order approves NCCI Item B-1450 as amended, allowing Texas to replace certain state-specific workers compensation classification phraseologies for hazardous material remediation (asbestos, mold, and lead paint) with multistate codes and descriptions, clarifying how these operations are classified and when related construction work must be separately rated, effective for new and renewal policies on or after July 1, 2026; however, after comment from Texas Mutual Insurance Company, the Texas Department of Insurance declined to adopt proposed changes to janitorial/window-cleaning codes 9014 and 9170 due to concerns about undefined above ground level, potential misclassification of low? versus high?risk window cleaning, and added recordkeeping burdens, leading NCCI to revise the filing to remove those code changes, which the Commissioner then approved as modified.
