New Mexico Insurers Ordered to Notify Ruidoso Policyholders of Community Fire Protection Reclassification

NM| Bulletin 2026-003, Issued by New Mexico Superintendent of Insurance, announces that ISO has downgraded the Ruidoso fire service protection areas’ Public Protection Classification (PPC) from class 2 to class 3 effective July 1, 2026, and requires residential property/casualty insurers with affected customers to notify policyholders within 90 days using specified or similar language about potential premium and coverage impacts and suggesting they work with local officials on community improvement plans.
