MN Commerce Orders P&C Insurers to Report Firearm Policy and Claims Data by April 6, 2026

MN| The Minnesota Department of Commerce has issued a data call to all property and casualty insurers licensed in Minnesota to collect detailed homeowners policy and claims data involving firearms, using its authority under Minn. Stat. §45.027 by February 1, 2026, in order to prepare an aggregated, nonpublic insurer-level report with potential legislative recommendations to the Governor and relevant agencies by October 1, 2026; insurers must submit company-level (NAIC code or FEIN) responses electronically using the prescribed template via SFTP directly to ISO (no email submissions) by Monday, April 6, 2026.​
