CA| The Notice, issued March 20, 2026 by the California Department of Insurance, reminds all admitted insurers, producers, bail agents, independent and public adjusters, education providers, and other interested parties that California Insurance Code section 1729.2 requires all licensees, applicants, and specified unlicensed control persons listed on business entity licenses or applications to report any changes in background information to the California Department of Insurance in writing within 30 days of learning of the change, generally using the linked Department’s online Background Change Disclosure Form. It explains that failure to timely report is grounds for disciplinary action, including fines and potential denial, revocation, suspension, or restriction of a license or application.

The notice also outlines required supporting documents for reportable background changes, such as:

  • a detailed explanatory statement,
  • certified court records showing charges, pleas, and sentences,
  • arrest or incident reports,
  • administrative or disciplinary documents,
  • and any other relevant information.
