Educating Knowledge Workers at ReSource Pro

...ReSource Pro could actually be considered two distinct operations. One is a provider of outsource services to the insurance industry. The other is a university.

...As a value partner to our clients and our employees, ReSource Pro recognizes the value of continuing education to constantly improve levels of quality, efficiency, and productivity to our clients. ReSource Pro also acknowledges the importance of continuing education in maintaining high levels of morale, positive attitude, and potential for career advancement.

...The education begins with the integration of new employees through our Prep School, followed by RSP University, which incorporates Insurance College, Management College, and Professional Development College. Additionally, we also operate our Special Programs School.

There are two levels of study:
• Level 1 includes confirmation of foundational knowledge of insurance in       concepts, terminology, insurance cycles, etc.
• Level 2 (launched in December 2009) includes a detailed review and       clarification of insurance organizations and how they interact. It then moves       into an in-depth study of coverages through AICPCU materials and       classroom training.

Level 2 initially focused on the five most frequently seen coverages from our RSP clients: Commercial Auto, General Liability, Property, Umbrella, and Workers’ Compensation. Planned course expansion for 2010 will include E&O, D&O, BOP, Crime, and Inland Marine – all of which were selected based upon the frequency of work handled by ReSource Pro.

The feedback on the courses has been extremely positive and more sessions are being scheduled for each coverage. Additionally, self-study materials are know available in conjunction with the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (AICPCU), which will increase employee knowledge of these key coverages and prepare them for Level 2 courses.

According to Walter Schwab, who coordinates ReSource Pro’s educational programs in China, education is a continually evolving process, “We are prepared to make adjustments regarding the coverages that need to be addressed, in accordance with the needs and demands from our clients. Determination of classes to be offered to and undertaken by our employees is primarily predicated on the work volume and frequency sent to us by our clients. We do not add a course to our curriculum unless the proper experts and material are available.”

RSP employees are required to pass the Level 1 Certification Exam prior to gaining access to the AICPCU self-study materials and attendance of Level 2 classes. At present, nearly 100 employees have now passed that Level 1 exam.”

Prior to testing, RSP employees can access instructor-led review sessions. These interactive sessions enable students to discuss any questions or concerns, while reinforcing the lessons they’ve learned before taking an examination

ReSource Pro is committed to expanding the educational opportunities of RSP University in order to continually enhance performance for our clients and retain the highest quality employees. This commitment has been recognized in China with awards honoring ReSource Pro as one of the top employers in Qingdao. As a result, ReSource Pro receives an average of 1,500 job applications per month from highly qualified individuals. That applicant base provides the foundation for a base of stellar employees to serve our clients.
